Is now the time to buy a new home in Spain?

The answer is YES! – IVA has temporarily been reduced, and now the period extended until the end of December 2012.

The Spanish Government has announced that IVA on all new homes in Spain will temporarily be reduced from 8% to 4%. In a bid to stimulate the housing market and the construction sector, IVA has been cut to help builders sell unsold residential properties. This is good news for those wanting to purchase a new home; however the tax cut will only last till the end of year. With prices of new homes already down by 40-50% from its peak, we at El Siglo Properties believe that there couldn´t be a better time to buy a new property!

Plus with the construction of the new Paramount Theme Park at Alhama de Murcia, this development is now set to give the region’s property market a boost of truly epic proportions. Work has already begun on a new 2.5km2 theme park in Murcia, which will ultimately stand as the single largest tourist attraction in all of Spain. Comprising a series of zones themed around major motion pictures such as Star Trek and Titanic, it is scheduled to open in 2015 and is expected to draw upwards of three million visitors to the region each year. Paramount Theme park Murcia will have an initial size equivalent to 109 football stadiums and will include four large hotels which will include a theme park of 36.5 hectares and a water park of 9.9 hectares. The park will be called the Paramount Resort and will be the first Paramount park in Europe. Movies will obviously play quite a role in the new park, but there’s also plenty of related stuff to be left to visitors’ imaginations. Right now they’re planning on four different lands, including Paseo Promenade, Adventure City, Rango’s West, and Woodland Fantasy.

Plaza Futura is the cutting edge technology area which will feature Star Trek and a spectacular recreation of “War of the Worlds”. Not for the faint hearted this area will feature a passage of terror based on the feature film “Paranormal Activity”.

The centerpiece of the park will be an avenue flanked by hotels, restaurants and a shopping centre with a pavilion focusing on the attractions of the region of Murcia and Spain.

Over one billion Euros is to be invested in the park which will employ in excess of 10,000 people during the course of construction. The park will also contain an auditorium with capacity for 15,000 people and the largest convention centre in the region of Murcia capable of accommodating over 3,000 people in its main hall.
